Landscape adaptation
The fish farm is designed to fit into the coastal culture, with references to norwegian boathouses and fishing villages.

Material use
The combination of wood, stone and bright colors of the framework reflects a long tradition in the cultural landscape.

Sketch process
Many ideas was evaluated in the creative process.

Colour
What colour is the fjord landscape?

Construction
The breeding farm construction comes in modules and is possible to flat-pack.

Land based fish farm
Raceway for Sognaqua´s land based fish farms
SognAqua works with simple, land based fish farming. Based on SognAqua’s innovative technology for water recycling, KADABRA has designed an integral land based breeding farm, including landscape adaptation and constructions of tubs and building structures. Elements such as feeding systems, water supply and recycling are integrated in the tub.

The cultural landscape along the Norwegian coast is spectacular and worth maintaining. That is why the construction is adapted to the landscape with the use of natural material such as rock and wood. During the designing process, boathouses and the marine agriculture inspired us to create a breeding farm merging into the surroundings like a “fisher village” in miniature. Land based fish-farming also contributes to a more natural eco system in the fjords because it prevents fish from escaping, which is a frequent problem within traditional fishery farms.

The breeding farm construction comes in modules and is possible to flat-pack, which in turn significantly lowers the threshold for starting up with land based fish farming.
